

Mayra Alvarado, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and is fluent in English and Spanish. Through a client-centered approach, Mayra creates a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their emotions and develop effective coping strategies. She considers the client’s culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, spirituality, and social factors in her practice. Mayra creates treatment plans with the mindset that one shoes does not fit all. With focus on evidence-based modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialect behavior therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and motivational interviewing. By fostering self-reflection, personal growth, and resilience, Mayra empowers individuals to overcome challenges and find self-acceptance.
In addition to individual therapy, Mayra has experience leading group sessions, workshops, guest speaking, and creating a supportive community where individuals can connect and learn together. Mayra is happy to support individuals in this journey of life.
She has eight-years working in social work and serving her community. Mayra has experience in working with neurodivergent children and adolescents, families, chronic illness, geriatric age patients, hospital settings, immigration, refugees, and foster care. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Stephen F. Austin State University.
