Jay Nickel, LPC-S is a licensed professional counselor. He starts every session with the question, “What do you want to address today?” Jay works with persons experiencing anxiety, anger, grief and loss, life transitions, parenting concerns, relationship difficulties, and spiritual issues. He also works with couples seeking connection/reconnection.
Jay received a master’s degree in counseling in 2005, with an emphasis on pastoral counseling, from the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX. Before becoming a counselor, Jay served two years as a chaplain in the Methodist Hospital System of San Antonio and was trained in spiritual direction. Prior to that, he worked in the computer high-tech field for 20 years. Jay is trained in emotionally focused couples therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and hypnotherapy.
