

Jay Nickel, LPC is a chaplain and licensed professional counselor with expertise in working with persons experiencing anxiety, anger, grief and loss, life transitions, parenting concerns, relationship difficulties, spiritual issues, and couples seeking connection/reconnection.
Jay received a master’s degree in counseling in 2005, with an emphasis on pastoral counseling, from Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX. Before becoming a counselor, Jay served two years as a chaplain in the Methodist Hospital System of San Antonio and was trained in spiritual direction. Prior to that, he worked in the computer high-tech field for 20 years. Jay is trained in emotionally focused couples therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and hypnotherapy.
