Misty Ely, LMSW works for the Samaritan Center under MVPN as the Lead Field Clinician seeing Veterans for individual, family, and group counseling. In addition to conducting Military Informed Care (MIC) training for the Dallas and Fort Worth areas she also works with the Veteran Treatment Court Programs for the local counties providing therapeutic services as needed. After serving nine years on active duty in the Marine Corps, she has worked in several capacities including therapist for domestic violence/sexual assault victims, substance abuse prevention/education, suicide prevention/education (overseas), federal officer (federal prison) and a probation officer in Texas.
Misty has specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), both for the treatment for PTSD in adults and children. She has completed training in several treatment modalities including, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, and Structured Sensory Interventions for children. She received her Master’s in Social Work with concentration in Mental Health/Veterans Services from the University of Southern California. She also has a Master degree in Behavioral Medicine/Health Psychology from Northcentral University. She lives in Arlington Texas with her son and daughter, where she enjoys reading, painting and running in her free time.
